Hello everyone, I have a quite specific question that I would like to discuss here: Are there durable replacement parts for the Malm series from IKEA, especially regarding the drawer systems and connectors? I feel that many of the original replacement parts tend to wear out or break after some time. I am interested to know if anyone here has experience with more robust alternatives or general tips on how to significantly improve the durability of this furniture. I am not only thinking about original replacement parts but also third-party or modified solutions if they are better suited. Thanks in advance!

I find the discussion very helpful so far! I would like to add that IKEA does offer spare parts for the Malm series, but their availability is not always guaranteed in the long term, especially for older models. Those who need durable furniture should also pay attention to preventive maintenance, such as regularly tightening screws and, if necessary, replacing plastic parts with metal or wooden substitutes.

In my experience, small modifications to the construction also help—such as using wood glue at joints or clamps to ensure a tighter fit. Especially with Malm, these fine adjustments can significantly extend the furniture’s lifespan.
