Hello everyone, I am planning to place my new IKEA Hemnes secretary desk in my home office on a slightly uneven wooden floor. The unevenness is not severe, but noticeable enough that the piece of furniture wobbles slightly and doesn’t sit completely flat. Are there any proven tips or established techniques to stabilize and level the Hemnes desk despite this? I don’t want to have to keep adjusting it constantly and would also like to avoid damaging the floor. Perhaps some of you have experience with this furniture on uneven surfaces and can recommend suitable materials, tools, or small aids for leveling. Thank you in advance for your helpful advice!

- Screw feet come in different versions: plastic or metal. Metal feet tend to be more durable and support higher loads.
- During installation, make sure the screw threads are properly tightened and fit firmly on the furniture. For Hemnes, it is usually possible to attach a stable base under the furniture legs to fix the screw feet directly.
- If the floor is very uneven, it is worth placing the furniture in the final position first, then checking the height with a spirit level and adjusting the feet accordingly. Multiple measurements during the adjustment process are strongly recommended.
- If modifications are made to the Hemnes, such as attaching screw feet, care must be taken not to damage any furniture components or compromise its stability.
- Alternatively, the furniture market also offers flexible plastic feet that can compensate for minor unevenness if no significant height adjustment is needed.
I would be interested to know if you have already decided which method you prefer? Is your floor mainly wooden planks, or is it more of an engineered floor surface?
