Hello everyone, I’m currently looking into how to make the best use of Ikea Hemnes wardrobes. Are there any specific tips or tricks beyond the usual assembly and standard use? For example, are there particular recommendations for arranging the shelves or adding extra organization components? I’m also interested in how to maintain the stability and durability of these wardrobes, even with frequent use. Maybe someone has experience with practical modifications or useful additions to make their use more efficient? I look forward to detailed tips and advice!

One thing that is often overlooked: The hinges of the doors can be adjusted. Once the cabinet is assembled, regularly check and, if necessary, adjust them to ensure the doors close properly and do not sag.

I use battery-powered LED puck lights with motion sensors, which I have mounted inside at the top. This protects the cabinet since no wiring is necessary.

A good tip that combines maintenance and convenience. Additionally, I would like to address the aspect of air circulation: Hemnes wardrobes are made of solid wood, which can lead to moisture issues if the doors are sealed improperly. Therefore, I would recommend not sealing the doors airtight to prevent mold growth. A small gap or special ventilation grilles is advisable.

Furthermore, the durability of the surfaces can be better preserved by occasionally oiling or waxing the wood.

To add: Avoid overloading individual shelves. The load capacity is limited. For heavy items, it is better to use the floor or install additional reinforcement between shelves.

Installing metal clothes rods instead of wooden rods is worthwhile. They usually have a higher load capacity and are more durable.

Third-party interior lighting with LED strips or puck lights works very well and can be easily retrofitted using simple battery-powered systems without damaging the cabinet.

Thanks to everyone, especially RENMA for the detailed suggestions. I also find Garry’s advice about air circulation very important, something I wouldn’t have thought of right away.

One question remains for me: Does anyone have recommendations on the best way to reinforce or stabilize the back panel? I want to be on the safe side regarding load capacity, as I plan to store boxes with heavier items on the cabinet floor. If anyone is familiar with best practices here, I would appreciate your advice.
