Hello everyone,

I hope someone here can help me: I am currently planning my new kitchen with Ikea Metod kitchen cabinets and have a specific challenge because the walls in my apartment are made of concrete. My question is: How can I securely and reliably fix Ikea Metod kitchen cabinets to concrete walls so that the cabinets hold firmly over time, even when fully loaded?

I am especially interested in which types of wall plugs and screws you would recommend, what loads the construction can support, and if there are any special tips for drilling into concrete to avoid mistakes.

That’s awesome that you’re taking on this project! 😊 For concrete walls, I definitely recommend heavy-duty anchors (also known as sleeve anchors). They hold really well and are specifically designed for solid walls. It’s important to use the right drill bit with a hammer drill so the dust can escape and the hole doesn’t get clogged.

Screws should match the size of the anchors—usually M6 or M8, depending on the weight of the cabinets. I personally used these anchors for my Metod cabinets and had no issues, even when loading them heavily!
