Hello everyone, I have recently assembled some Malm furniture from Ikea and find the provided instructions somewhat unclear and impractical – especially when several parts look very similar or when the step sequences are not intuitive.
Therefore, my question to the community is: In your experience, are there better instructions or alternative tips for assembling Malm furniture that are clearer, more precise, or more effective?
I am particularly interested in advice or resources that help reduce common pitfalls and simplify the process efficiently. Perhaps someone knows of summarized or supplementary guides, videos, or even apps that are genuinely helpful.
I look forward to your experiences and recommendations!

Are there any better guides or alternative tips for assembling Malm furniture that are clearer, more precise, or more helpful from your perspective?Hello Axel58! I know the feeling—sometimes the standard Ikea instructions feel more like a puzzle than a helpful assembly guide. ?
Recently, I found a video tutorial on YouTube that explains the Malm assembly in a way that almost makes it fun—step by step, with visual cues and even tips on which screws are particularly important in each step.
Sometimes it also helps to use the instructions digitally, because you can zoom in on details more easily than on paper. Apps like “Ikea Assembly Helper” offer these features. Just a thought in case you haven’t tried that yet. 🙂
Based on my experience, the official manual for Malm is generally accurate but has the drawback that some steps are illustrated too briefly.
You will get a clearer guide if you sort all the parts and identify the screws precisely before assembly. Additionally, you can find helpful tips through online forums and detailed photos that explain individual challenging assembly points more clearly.
Using video tutorials is useful but should be seen as a supplement. They do not replace the manual but often provide valuable visual clarification.

Thanks for the tip, Timofa. Do you happen to have a specific channel or link? A well-structured video guide would probably be best to avoid common mistakes.
I ask because I prefer to rely on a trustworthy source rather than browsing through random videos that are sometimes incomplete or show different versions of the Malm.

The official instructions for Malm are basically correct but suffer from the problem that certain steps are illustrated too briefly.I agree, but I would add that "correct" does not automatically mean "optimized." The original instructions are designed to work universally for all variations – this leads to generalizations that can confuse beginners.
A "better" instruction manual would therefore need to be more targeted, for example providing more explanations for first-time builders and quicker guidance for professionals.
I miss a high-quality digital version from Ikea with interactive elements and 3D visuals that would make assembly much easier. Has anyone found anything similar?
