Hello everyone, I hope someone here can help me: Are there practical solutions to secure an IKEA Pax wardrobe without drilling?

Here’s the background: I want to fix my Pax wardrobe to the wall as securely as possible, but in my rental apartment, drilling is either not allowed or requires a complicated approval process from the landlord. Therefore, I’m looking for alternative methods that are strong enough to prevent the wardrobe from tipping over but don’t damage the wall.

Are there any proven systems or tricks that ensure this kind of secure attachment? Ideally, options that can be easily removed again without causing permanent damage to the rental property.

Looking forward to your experiences and suggestions!

Yes, there are mounting kits with special adhesives or hook-and-loop pads that work for light loads. However, for heavy Pax cabinets, I would not recommend a complete solution without drilling.

Attaching a Pax wardrobe without drilling is generally possible if you use the appropriate products. There are special adhesive systems as well as so-called tension rails that can be placed between the wardrobe and the ceiling or floor. It is important that the surfaces are clean and stable, and that the load on the wardrobe is taken into account.

However, you should be aware that without mechanical anchoring to the wall, there is always a residual risk of tipping. Especially if children are around or if the wardrobe is frequently loaded when open, I would recommend more conservative methods, even if drilling is not ideal.

In addition, when using adhesive systems, it is important to follow the manufacturer’s specifications regarding weight and adhesion strength, as inexpensive options can fail quickly. Furthermore, the surface condition is crucial—smooth, clean walls are more suitable than rough plaster or wallpaper.

I think it’s great that you’re asking about how to secure a Pax wardrobe without drilling! 😄 This is especially important for renters.

I’ve read that some people use heavy-duty hook-and-loop straps that can be removed later. That doesn’t sound too bad if you’re not moving the cabinet around all the time. Otherwise, there are rubber bumpers or non-slip mats you can put under the feet to prevent it from sliding.

Of course, this doesn’t fully replace anchoring, but it might help as an additional measure. Maybe someone else has more tips for securing it without leaving marks on the wall?

Huge topic! Especially without drilling, there are actually some really interesting solutions! 😊

- Clamping rails placed between the cabinet and ceiling/floor that can be installed without screws.
- Strong adhesive pads or double-sided mounting tapes with high load capacity, which can sometimes be removed again.
- Non-slip mats under the cabinet feet for extra grip.

It’s best to combine several methods, as this often ensures more stability! And always test it first before moving the furniture! 😉
