Hello everyone,

I am currently planning a new bedroom and am particularly interested in the Ikea Pax wardrobe system. My main question is: Does Ikea offer the Pax wardrobe with integrated LED lighting and built-in power outlets? I am looking for a solution where the lighting is already installed in the wardrobe frame or on the shelves, and also where power outlets for charging stations or other devices are integrated within the wardrobe.

I find the idea very practical to make the wardrobe functional without relying on external lamps or power strips. If Ikea does not offer this directly, I would also appreciate recommendations for suitable retrofit options that fit well with the Pax system.

Thanks in advance for your information and tips!

Regarding Ikea Pax wardrobes with integrated LED lighting and power outlets:

Ikea offers LED lighting systems specifically designed for the Pax wardrobe; however, these usually come as separate retrofit modules and are not permanently installed within the frame or on shelves. The Pax LEDs can be operated via sensor or switch and are available as strips or spotlights.

Concerning integrated power outlets: Ikea does not offer Pax models with built-in sockets. External solutions must be used, such as power strips that can be installed inside the wardrobe. It is important to ensure safe wiring and, if necessary, to have a qualified professional carry out the installation.

Summary:
- LED lighting is available as accessory and retrofit option
- No fixed power outlets integrated into the wardrobe
- Retrofit is possible, but electrical safety must be ensured.

I can confirm that! I myself installed one of Ikea’s LED strips in a Pax wardrobe and am very satisfied. The motion sensor lighting control is really convenient and saves electricity.

I just had to have the power outlets installed separately inside the wardrobe. Our electrician did this quickly and neatly so I can easily charge my phone inside without cable clutter outside the wardrobe.

Conclusion: There isn’t an all-in-one solution from Ikea, but with some planning and basic DIY skills, you can create a very functional wardrobe that is well illuminated and allows you to connect devices.

A small tip: If you choose the original LEDs, it’s best to ask for advice in the Ikea store beforehand, as the models and compatibility can change from time to time.

It’s interesting that Ikea does not offer built-in power outlets for the Pax wardrobe, even though such solutions are quite in demand nowadays.

This raises the question for me whether it actually makes sense to integrate power outlets within furniture. Such installations could pose safety challenges, especially in combination with wood and confined spaces.

Do any of you have experience with safely retrofitting power outlets inside wardrobes without violating regulations or creating risks?

Also, how good are Ikea’s LED systems in terms of brightness and energy consumption? I would appreciate a well-informed opinion before deciding to buy one.

Power outlets can only be installed in the Pax wardrobe afterwards; Ikea does not offer this option.

LED lighting is available as an accessory, usually LED strips with sensors.

My tip: Use switched power strips and attach LED strips with adhesive tape or screws. The system is flexible and safe.

Thank you for the important reminder. For retrofitting power outlets, I would definitely recommend having the installation done by a certified electrician. Especially if the cabinet is located near wet areas or if the cable management is not ideal, there can otherwise be safety risks.

That sounds like a good approach. It would also be interesting to know if there are specific connection options or special outlets that are particularly suitable for furniture or tight spaces.

Also, I’m intrigued by the idea of controlling the lighting with a motion sensor. Do any of you have preferences between in-house solutions from Ikea and other brands that are compatible with Pax?
