Hello everyone, I have recently started exploring the topic of storage optimization in IKEA Metod tall cabinets, especially regarding the appropriate interior fittings.

Specifically, I am interested in how to best utilize the existing space in these tall kitchen cabinets—for both bulky items and smaller utensils. I already have the option to combine shelves, pull-outs, and internal drawers, but I find it challenging to create a sensible arrangement that offers both easy access and maximum capacity.

I am looking for tips on selecting and arranging interior fittings, such as when fixed shelves are better than pull-outs, how to adapt storage for pots, dishes, or pantry items, and especially how to effectively combine telescopic runners and other components.

Does anyone have experience or concrete recommendations on how to efficiently combine the various interior fittings in Metod tall cabinets? I would also appreciate suggestions on which IKEA or third-party products have proven useful for creating flexible and practical storage solutions. Thanks in advance!

To make the most of the storage space in IKEA Metod tall cabinets, I recommend a systematic organization of the interior based on usage patterns and the size of the stored items.

- Start by determining which items will be stored in the cabinet: heavy, bulky utensils; frequently used smaller items; or pantry supplies.
- Use pull-outs for frequently used items, as they provide better access and make the storage more organized.
- For bulky items like pots or large storage containers, adjustable shelves are ideal. This allows for optimal space adjustment.
- Telescopic drawer slides are generally sturdy enough for heavy kitchen utensils. Make sure the drawers have soft-close features, as this increases comfort.
- Inner drawers can help organize small items such as cutlery or spices while maximizing the available space.

Combine fixed shelves at the bottom for heavy pots, medium pull-outs for pantry supplies, and upper inner drawers for smaller items in a systematic way.

Modular organization systems from third-party suppliers are compatible, but often the IKEA interior fittings combined with clever divider systems provide the greatest flexibility.

Hello Sontau, I’d be happy to share my experience:

For my Metod tall cabinets, I rely on a combination of high-load capacity drawers and various inserts for organization. The advantages are clear:

- Drawers make it much easier to take out heavy pots and pans.
- Flexible dividers inside the inner drawers prevent small items from mixing up.
- If you store many different types of items, plan for different kinds of interior fittings, such as smooth shelves for pantry jars and drawers with inserts for cutting boards or baking trays.

I have found that rearranging becomes much easier if you first consider which items are used with similar frequency – group them together in one area. This reduces the time spent searching while cooking.

By the way: It is also very helpful not to set the shelf heights too tightly, so you can adjust them flexibly later.

I hope this helps you!

A very important recommendation! I would like to add a brief guide on how to approach the interior organization of the Metod tall cabinets:

- First, take an inventory: What exactly should be stored in the cabinets? Note the quantity, size, and frequency of access.

- Next, plan the zoning:
- Bottom section for bulky and rarely used items,
- middle height for frequently used dishes or pantry items in drawers,
- upper levels for easily accessible small items or spices.

- For drawers, try to utilize the maximum load capacities, since telescopic runners are very sturdy.

- For internal drawers, make sure that the front and side walls are tall enough to prevent items from falling out.

- Additional storage boxes or divided organizers can greatly improve orderliness.

- Finally, consider ergonomic aspects so you don’t have to reach deep into the cabinet every time you open it.

With the right products from IKEA and possibly custom additions from third-party suppliers, you can tailor the system perfectly to your needs. Good luck with your project!
