Hello everyone, I want to redesign my workspace and am considering the IKEA Besta series. So far, I only have individual pieces of furniture, but now I want to create a well-thought-out setup that combines storage, organization, and a pleasant working atmosphere. I am especially interested in how to best combine the Besta elements to achieve both visual harmony and functional flexibility. Which cabinet and shelving combinations are suitable for a home office where, in addition to some technical equipment, documents and books also need to be stored? Are there any tips for space planning, the optimal height of the furniture, or built-in features such as internal drawers and lighting within the Besta system? I look forward to your experiences and recommendations!

Wow, great project! 🎉 IKEA BESTA is really versatile! I have a combination of tall and low BESTA cabinets myself, which provide plenty of storage space and also look very stylish. What’s especially nice is that you can customize everything individually. My advice: definitely use the internal drawers and boxes—they make organizing so much easier! And the LED lighting built into the units creates a great atmosphere and ensures you can work comfortably even in the evening. Don’t get discouraged if everything needs to be taken apart and rearranged at first—that’s normal, but it’s definitely worth it in the end. Good luck!

BESTA is ideal for small to medium-sized rooms. I would recommend: - Placing low cabinets as sideboards under the desk - Positioning tall cupboards against the wall for plenty of storage space - Getting inner drawers for small items - Adding LED strips for lighting This is usually enough for a functional workspace.

Hello LAJAN, I would like to share a brief step-by-step guide that can help you plan your BESTA workspace:

1. Assess the room size and lighting conditions: Be sure to measure the available space and consider the location of windows or light sources. This will influence your choice of components.
2. Determine your storage needs: Think carefully about what you want to store—folders, electronics, personal items—and plan the shelf and cabinet sizes accordingly.
3. Choose the BESTA base modules: Combine low sideboards for your immediate workspace with tall cabinets to make the best use of vertical space.
4. Add accessories: Inner drawers, shelves, and cable management are important to keep everything organized.
5. Lighting: LED modules and light strips can easily be integrated into the BESTA system to provide comfortable working light.

A common mistake is selecting all furniture based only on appearance without considering daily functionality. Plan with realistic workflows in mind! I hope this helps you.

I can fully understand that designing the workspace can also be an emotional challenge. You don’t just want to plan something practical, but also create a place where you feel comfortable and motivated.

I also find that really important! For me, it was a real relief when I finally installed clearly structured compartments in the BESTA system. It prevents clutter and truly brings calm to the room.

Does anyone else have experience with the ergonomics of BESTA solutions? For example, I wonder if certain combinations might cause height issues at the workstation. That would be a shame, in my opinion.

For efficient design of a workspace using IKEA BESTA furniture, I recommend the following points:

- Use modular BESTA units to make the most of the available space. Tall cabinets are suitable for filing and material storage, while low sideboards can serve as surfaces or seating areas.
- Consider the optimal working height: the tabletop is ideally between 72 and 75 cm (28 and 30 inches) by default.
- To create flexible storage options, use inner drawers and adjustable shelves.
- For comfortable task lighting, incorporate LED strips or panel lights that can be easily attached to the BESTA units.
- Pay attention to the load limits of the shelves and use appropriate fixings, especially for heavier loads.

Systematic planning based on these criteria results in a durable and functional workspace.
