TuMonique14 Sep 2023 08:43Hello everyone, I am currently planning to assemble the Ikea Brimnes bedroom furniture set and have a somewhat specific question about it. Is there an illustrated assembly guide for the Ikea Brimnes that goes beyond the usual printed brochure? I am particularly looking for a clearer and perhaps more detailed visual guide that explains step by step, with photos or graphics, how the parts are put together. Since the original instructions are sometimes quite schematic and minimalistic, I would like to know if anyone knows of good alternative illustrated resources or has even taken their own photos or created detailed visuals during assembly that they could share. Thank you very much for your help!
Hello TuMonique, your question is very clearly formulated, great! Regarding your question: Officially, Ikea only provides the simplified assembly instructions, which are known to be based on drawings. To my knowledge, there is no illustrated guide with photos or real images of the Brimnes assembly from Ikea itself.
However, from experience I can recommend structuring the assembly with some additional steps to make it easier to follow during the build:
- Sort parts by type and document each step with photos
- Additionally, redraw the Ikea instruction diagrams by hand on paper alongside the manual
- For difficult steps, you can take your own photos of key assembly points to create your own illustrated mini-guides
Common mistakes with the Brimnes include mixing up the side panels and tightening screws too early, which makes later adjustments more difficult. If you like, I can send you a list of important do’s and don’ts that I noted during my last assembly.

I assembled the Brimnes set a few months ago, and yes, it can be quite tricky at times. The original instructions are minimalist, but I was really lucky: some helpful people from another forum uploaded their photos of the assembly process! That was a great help 🙂
It’s worth staying motivated! Sometimes taking a break and then looking at it again helps a lot. I would also recommend having a second person to assist you; it makes everything much easier. You’ve got this! If you like, I’d be happy to share some tips I learned while assembling it.

warrenka5714 Sep 2023 14:29I can definitely understand how the minimalism of Ikea instructions can be frustrating – they often cause a lot of confusion.
I completely agree with that! It happened to me as well, and it significantly delayed the assembly.
I would recommend taking your time and not working under pressure. We tend to overlook small details when we’re stressed. Also, I like having the option to call or write somewhere if I get stuck. Have you had the chance to contact Ikea directly? Sometimes they have service centers that offer specific assistance.

Regarding the question:
- There is no official illustrated photo guide for the Brimnes.
- The Ikea manual only contains graphics, no photos.
- Visit your local Ikea store; sometimes there are display models set up.
- YouTube might have assembly videos that can help visually.
These are probably the best options available.

I am especially looking for a clearer and perhaps more detailed visual guide that explains step by step with photos or graphics how the parts are assembled.Hello TuMonique, I completely understand why you would want a pictorial guide. The simplified pictograms from Ikea are not always easy to interpret, especially if you are less experienced with assembling furniture.
I recommend watching a video tutorial in addition to the original instructions. There are various enthusiasts who create complete assembly videos for Brimnes and cover every detail thoroughly. This way, you don’t just see the steps but also how the parts fit together.
This lets you follow along step by step and gain a better sense of the correct order. Additionally, it helps to sort the screws and components by bag, since Ikea often uses many similar parts.
If you like, I can also prepare a checklist that explains the more complex sections of the assembly in detail.
