Hello everyone, I am currently looking into whether there are alternative accessories for the Ikea Brimnes range. I am especially interested in additional storage options or modular add-ons that are not directly offered by Ikea but are compatible. Does anyone here know of accessories or attachments, perhaps from third-party suppliers or DIY solutions, that integrate well with the Brimnes design? I am particularly interested in drawer inserts, cabinet organizers, or supplementary shelving that expand the system usefully without significantly changing its appearance. Some practical tips or recommendations regarding functionality would be great! Thanks in advance.

There are some third-party suppliers offering drawer inserts compatible with Brimnes, usually made of plastic or bamboo. Simple organizers for cabinets are often flexible enough as well. Modular shelving units from other manufacturers might be compatible, but make sure to check exact measurements.

Hello fire45, I understand that you are looking for alternatives to the Brimnes system, as Ikea sometimes offers only limited options for customization. In general, Brimnes is quite standardized in its dimensions, which has the advantage that many universal storage accessories might fit. I recommend:

- Plastic or metal drawer inserts, like those used in kitchens, also work well with Brimnes.
- For wardrobe shelves, adjustable shelf inserts from third-party manufacturers are available and can be customized.
- If you have some DIY skills, you can add modular shelves using simple wooden components.

It is always important to measure precisely beforehand. Sometimes clean edges and appearance are crucial so that the result doesn’t look out of place.

If you like, I can also provide tips on how to build simple organizers yourself.

I really appreciate that you’re paying attention to maintaining the look of the Brimnes. I felt the same when I furnished my room with Brimnes, but I didn’t want to just buy random additions that might end up looking out of place.

I experimented a lot with homemade inserts made from lightweight wood. To me, they simply feel more premium than plastic and match the look much better. At the same time, it’s a project that’s relaxing and gives you the feeling of creating something truly personal.

Of course, it takes time and you need a bit of patience, but especially when available options aren’t ideal, it’s an approach I can definitely recommend.

Regarding compatible accessories: Universal organizers from office supplies often fit surprisingly well in terms of dimensions. They are affordable and easy to replace. However, when it comes to modular accessories, specific Brimnes parts from Ikea are usually the best choice.

Hey fire45, I find this topic really interesting! 😊 If you customize the Ikea Brimnes system a bit, you can create a really unique piece of furniture. What I’ve tried myself:

- Wooden drawer dividers that I cut to size, which keep everything neat
- Magnetic strips on the sides for small tools or accessories

It’s a lot of fun and feels almost like a small DIY adventure.

I understand that you don’t always want to use everything from Ikea right away – a bit of personal touch makes it much more individual. 😉
