Hello everyone,

I am currently planning the furnishing of my guest room and considering how to best use the Ikea Hemnes series for this purpose. My main question is: How can Ikea Hemnes furniture be used in a guest room to provide a comfortable sleeping space while still offering enough storage and flexibility? I would be interested to know which Hemnes pieces are particularly suitable for guest rooms, especially with regard to practical storage options and possibly multifunctional solutions. Are there any tips for the optimal use of beds, dressers, or shelving systems from the series? Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Hello Fulupar,

The Hemnes series is really a great choice for guest rooms, as the furniture is sturdy and timelessly designed. For a guest room, I especially recommend:

- The Hemnes bed frame with an integrated slatted base, which provides a comfortable sleeping area when combined with a good mattress.
- The Hemnes under-bed drawers are particularly practical because they offer additional storage space for items like bedding, blankets, or pillows without taking up extra floor space.
- Hemnes dressers also work well for storage, such as the 3- or 4-drawer models, to keep guests’ clothing or personal items organized.
- If you want to use the room multifunctionally, Hemnes shelves or wall-mounted boards can expand storage without reducing the floor area.

The most important thing is to plan enough storage smartly so guests can store everything neatly without the room feeling cluttered. If you have any questions about choosing sizes or combination options, I’m happy to help!

Hello,

in addition to LENNAU, I can say that the Hemnes daybed is also a great option for guest rooms, especially if the space is smaller. It offers seating during the day and a sleeping space for a guest at night.

- Make sure to use the drawers under the daybed, as they are well suited for storing bedding or personal items.
- If your budget and space allow, a matching nightstand from the Hemnes series is practical for a lamp or books.

In my view, the most important thing for guest rooms is to choose furniture with dual functions and avoid too many individual pieces so the room doesn’t feel overcrowded.

Hemnes wardrobe with lockable doors saves a lot of space.

Daybed + chest of drawers = good combination in the guest room.

Don’t underestimate the storage space in the under-bed drawers.

To truly create an optimal solution, you should carefully consider the following points during planning:

- Room size and layout flexibility: Determine exactly how much floor space you have. The Hemnes furniture is classic but can often appear bulky, so scale is important.

- Bed / sleeping options: The classic Hemnes bed frame offers a lot of comfort but requires relatively much space. The daybed can serve two functions — seating during the day and a sleeping place at night. This saves a lot of space, especially in smaller rooms.

- Storage: The drawers under the bed are very useful. Make sure they slide easily and fit well with the overall look. Dressers can be used either for guests’ clothing or as additional surface space.

- Multifunctionality: Hemnes shelves can also be used as room dividers, but be careful not to make the room feel overcrowded. Open shelves with some closed compartments work best.

- Individual needs: Do you want to use the guest room also as a workspace or hobby room? Then the furniture should remain flexible. The series offers various sizes and additional pieces that can be adapted.

My question for you is: How often and with how many people do you expect to use your guest room? This significantly influences your choices. Generally, it is better to invest in a good, comfortable mattress than in many pieces of furniture.

The Hemnes dresser with large drawers is best used for guest bedding and towels.

The bed is flexible as a daybed.

Combine drawers under the bed for space-saving storage.
