Hello everyone, I wanted to ask if any of you have come across video tutorials specifically addressing assembly errors of the IKEA Brimnes wardrobe.

I have noticed that while many of the official instructions are generally clear, they often don’t provide detailed guidance or solutions for common mistakes that frequently occur during assembly.

Are there any videos that focus specifically on problems like parts being assembled incorrectly, screws placed in the wrong spots, or other typical pitfalls related to the IKEA Brimnes?

I’m especially interested in whether these error examples are clearly visualized with dos and don’ts and corrected step by step, so that the mistakes can be quickly recognized and avoided.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

I haven't seen any specific video tutorials about common IKEA Brimnes assembly mistakes, but I can outline a few typical pitfalls that often occur and how they could be better explained in videos:

- Incorrect orientation of the back panel: The back panel is frequently installed backwards, which compromises stability. A good video could highlight this with close-up shots and clear markings.

- Screws in the wrong places: Some screws have holes that are the same size but different lengths. Videos should clearly emphasize which screw goes where.

- Drawer mechanism: Installing the rails requires precise positioning. Common mistakes include fastening screws too loosely or mixing up the left and right rails.

- Premature tightening: Sometimes builders tighten screws fully too early, which makes later adjustments more difficult.

In short: An effective error-focused video should not only show what’s done wrong but also explain why it’s wrong and how to do it correctly—ideally using progress shots or multiple angles.

I agree with that.

To add: The original instructions for the BRIMNES are reasonably precise, but not ideally designed for visual learners. Videos with explanations significantly improve understanding.

However, a comprehensive collection of such error videos is not known to exist, neither from IKEA nor from larger communities. A possible practical solution would be a collaborative project where users document and illustrate or record their mistakes.

What an exciting topic! 😊 I think videos like these could really help a lot of people – especially since many get frustrated quickly when assembling furniture.

I made some mistakes myself with the BRIMNES, like mixing up the drawers, and I would have appreciated exactly this kind of "error spotting guide."

Sometimes making mistakes isn’t so bad; what matters is learning from them – so videos that show errors and also offer tips are a great solution.

If anyone wants to start creating such videos, I’d be happy to help – just get in touch! 🛠️

Hey, I think the idea is great! 😄 Especially the combination of explaining mistakes and providing visual tips makes all the difference.

Often, when building, I see people carefully checking what went wrong, but they don’t always fully understand how to solve it correctly – good videos definitely help with that.

Maybe we could collect some common issues here in the forum so someone can create a structured guide from them?

And don’t stress too much, the BRIMNES build is no walk in the park, but it’s doable! 💪

If you want, I can summarize some common mistakes in more detail.

That would be really helpful! If you could clearly identify individual mistakes, perhaps with a brief explanation of their causes, and maybe offer some tips on how to best avoid them, we could create a kind of overview in this thread.

This would help everyone who, like me, sometimes spends hours puzzling over seemingly simple errors.

Thanks in advance!

Gladly, here is an overview of common mistakes when assembling the IKEA BRIMNES:

- Confusing parts: Similar-looking side panels or shelves are often mixed up. Pay close attention to the drill holes and markings when sorting.

- Installing the back panel too early or incorrectly: If the back panel is fixed before all screws are fully tightened, it can make later adjustments more difficult.

- Screws placed incorrectly: There are different types of screws (e.g., long, short, and wood screws). Mixing them up can be hard to fix once tightened.

- Drawer rails swapped: The left and right drawer rails are different and must be assigned correctly.

- Screws overtightened: If a part is misaligned, overtightening screws makes later corrections more challenging.

My tip: Assemble everything loosely once before final tightening to check alignment. It takes time but saves frustration 🙂 Hope this helps!
