Hello,

is it safe to place the Fritzbox Repeater 6000 in a child's bedroom without concerns?

Or is this questionable in terms of radiation?

On this floor, the child's bedroom is the only room with a LAN cable, so it can only be set up there.

Is the child’s age important when assessing this?

According to Fritz, the radiation is so low that no harmful health effects are expected, but what do you think?

How good is your cell phone reception inside the house? Devices actually operate at much higher power levels when the reception is poor. Besides that, you’re constantly exposed to various sources of electromagnetic radiation from outside anyway (cell towers, neighbors, etc.). I dropped out of your smart home confusion under several nicknames some time ago, but didn’t you want to include some wireless features as well?

For your information (literally): the exposure decreases with 1/r².

Do you have a baby monitor in the nursery?
If yes, then don’t worry about Wi-Fi radiation :p
Wi-Fi baby monitor 🙂

DECT is worse. So, no need to worry.
It’s also not a repeater but an access point in terms of function;)

So much for "Nobody needs LAN cables anymore these days" 🙂

No one ever said that.
But the wiring madness, where at least one double socket is installed in every room and the living room has two double sockets right behind the TV... nobody needs that. Yes.

There he goes again... completely unaware that he is contradicting himself.
If you’re constantly being “bombarded from outside by immense radiation anyway,” then does it really matter if you have an inconveniently located LAN port upstairs or three well-placed ones because you installed dual LAN outlets in every corner? The signal strength decreases with the inverse square of the distance, right? Once you memorize that, you don’t really understand it anyway...

The cell tower 100 meters (330 feet) away is much less dangerous thanks to this inverse square rule than the Wi-Fi access point just 1 meter (3 feet) from your head. Why? Because 1/1² compared to 1/100²—that’s a factor of 10,000 difference.

And for anyone who thinks a smartphone emits as much radiation as a Wi-Fi access point, just try setting up a hotspot on your smartphone as an experiment. It’s laughable since it usually can’t even get the signal through an interior door.

By the way, where is your buddy MotorRotor? He loves to go on and on too, knowing numbers and formulas by heart but not really understanding what they mean.

I wouldn’t do it – why? I don’t really know, I have no expert knowledge, and I simply didn’t want one in my bedroom either. That’s straightforward!
For me, it’s not a question of whether it’s harmful or not – I understand that it isn’t. But it’s an “always on” electronic device with considerable power in the sleeping area of a small person – I would look for another solution...
