I am planning a bungalow with 120 sqm (1,290 sq ft) of living space and am considering placing the Wi-Fi router as centrally as possible within the house.

I thought about installing it in the attic since it would be out of sight there.

Does anyone know if a drywall ceiling plus 24 cm (9.5 inches) of mineral wool would significantly block the Wi-Fi signal from reaching the rest of the house?

Thank you very much for your answers.

The drywall ceiling itself is not the issue. The problem in drywall construction tends to be the metal studs or the metal-coated insulation panels.

That should not cause any problems... but of course, it all depends on the router...

Hello,
we initially also considered placing the equipment under the roof. However, since our roof is not insulated, the equipment would start overheating during summer when temperatures exceed 30°C (86°F). Therefore, we decided against it. Just a tip, before you install the wiring and encounter the same problem.

Hello kaho674,

I haven't thought about that yet. Thanks.

But 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) should still be tolerable for the router, right?

Well, under a roof like that, it can quickly reach 50°C (122°F), depending on the location.
