ᐅ Should the driveway to the garage be sloped or include a small step?

Hello everyone,
we want to create a small pathway (approximately 5m (16 feet) long and 72cm (28 inches) wide – with curb stones each 6cm (2.4 inches) thick, plus one stone 40cm (16 inches) wide and another 20cm (8 inches) wide) from the driveway to the platform where the stairs lead to the house.
Now my question is: if I place the curb stones so they align flush with the platform and also flush with the curb stone at the driveway, then the path would run slightly "diagonal," since, for example, the platform likely has a slope of about 2–3cm (0.8–1.2 inches) over 1m (3 feet), and at the driveway the ground next to the house is higher.
I hope you understand what I mean. Alternatively, if I lay the curb stones at the same height, I would end up with a small step at the platform and on the other side. Do you have any advice? Thanks.

Construction site in front of residential house: Stone steps lead to entrance; pile of gravel, pallets, black car.

Construction site in front of house: Concrete slabs as a path over earth mound, car in background.

Yes, a string line is also stretched there. For now, we have only set the curb stones on one side. The rest will be done over the weekend.
That was also my plan: stretch the string line, set the curb stones, and then lay the paving between them with a slight slope, flush with the curbs. I was just unsure because the path will be slightly angled due to the slope of the platform and the boundary at the driveway. But you have relieved me of those concerns 😉

The distortion of the slope is not an issue. The height difference between the individual paving stones or slabs is minimal.

Have you just buried the edging stones? At least, that’s how it looks.

No, they are concreted into the ground. Yesterday, for some reason, my father just threw some soil over them.

For us, the question was whether to have the driveway (and the adjacent carport) straight with a "steeper" slope, or to lengthen it to reduce the incline. I believe our architect mentioned up to 6% as barrier-free (or low-barrier?), but I’m not entirely sure anymore.

2–3% is definitely very gentle and comfortable to walk on. I would prefer that over any step!

Edit: I read it too quickly and just realized. You’re not talking about the slope lengthwise but crosswise.
So, does it bother you when people walk over your landing? Still better than any kind of threshold or step.

Well, the platform is 2 meters (6.5 feet) wide, so I rarely walk across it and therefore can’t really say if it bothers me over a length of 5 meters (16.5 feet). I don’t think it will.

When I talk about a step, it’s only about 3–4 centimeters (1.2–1.6 inches), more of a slight trip hazard than a real step. Tomorrow I will loosely lay out the edging stones and check how much slope there actually is.

Then take a walk across it today :-D

Do you have a terrace? That also has a slope. Try walking across it there.

Anyway, a 3-4 cm (1.2-1.6 inch) step is the worst solution. As you said, tripping hazard guaranteed.
