Hello everyone,
today I received the quote for the electrical installation (see attached pictures). We are not planning a smart home, just the standard installation for our single-family house. Could you please check if the pricing looks reasonable or if it is too expensive?
Thank you very much!
Best regards

Are the spotlights including the bulbs? The electrician said that recessed LED downlights cost about 10€ each, which I think is completely reasonable.

Just give the electrician on site a 20€ note and put the 250€ you save towards your vacation fund. Good idea!

You could also save a bit, though not much, on the USB outlets. I think the cost is around 10-15€ for Gira’s standard range. Either install them yourself or just give them to the electrician on site. Whether he installs a normal outlet or one with USB makes no difference. The electrician said he generally uses Gira products, for example for switches and outlets.

Same story with the thermostats. I assume you have reviewed those? What exactly do you mean by “reviewed”? From the quote, I can’t tell which model that is. I would definitely ask more about that and check it myself...
Thanks for the tips!!

The electrician said that recessed LED spotlights cost about €10 (around $11) each, which seems completely reasonable to me. There’s obviously a range from price X to Y. That doesn’t necessarily mean the cheaper ones are worse. Ours cost €8 (about $9) on Amazon. A slightly higher price could have been justified if they cost over €100 (around $110) each. Nevertheless, the “preparation” cost without bulbs from other suppliers can easily reach €100 (around $110) per unit. Unfortunately, it’s not clearly detailed what exactly he charges for that.

What do you mean by “patterned”? I can’t tell from the quote which model this is. I would definitely ask for clarification and check it yourself... Surely he must have gone through the switch system with you. Standard thermostats often look like this:
I would have expected that you chose a higher-quality model there as well, which you could purchase yourself to save a bit. Perhaps a higher-quality model is already the standard. I would definitely inquire about that again.

Make sure to get a detailed breakdown of what exactly is included in the offer. Another example is the Gira intercom system. There are different models available with prices ranging from low to high. nordanney schrieb:
Gira ranges from basic standard to luxury – just saying "Gira" doesn’t provide any clear indication. Thanks! That’s exactly what I plan to do. I’ve received reference offers from friends that include detailed descriptions of individual components and a price list. Even recessed spotlights vary greatly, from €8 (around $9) up to over €120 (around $130). It’s possible the electrician is offering me something good and high-end. Unfortunately, I can’t tell from the offer...
I already mentioned that you have many cost drivers included. If you removed those or replaced them with alternatives, you would most likely cut the costs by nearly half. Even without prices listed, you can "see" that the numbers keep increasing.
For example, USB outlets, recessed spotlights (I bet there are quite a few of these), sauna, wiring for electric car(s), and of course, the intercom system.
But of course, I’m not a clairvoyant and could be wrong.
