Hello everyone,

today I received the quote for the electrical installation (see attached pictures). We are not planning a smart home, just the standard installation for our single-family house. Could you please check if the pricing looks reasonable or if it is too expensive?
Thank you very much!

Best regards

That's correct. We are working with an architect who issues separate contracts for each trade. The attached offer already reflects individual contracting. ops:

Now I'm really starting to doubt our electrical planning.

But no, I find it really expensive for a somewhat upgraded conventional electrical installation.
Where are you building?

Then definitely take another look. Even though the details here are not entirely clear, I find the overall price significantly too high. We are building 260 m² (2800 sq ft) and paying about 32k for electrical work with basic KNX.

In Baden-Württemberg (71088). I thought the costs for electrical installation would be independent of location... My gut feeling as a builder is around 20,000 up to a maximum of 30,000 euros for a better conventional electrical installation. But unfortunately, I am a homeowner without technical knowledge...

That matches more closely with my quote and impression. However, I have to say we only obtained one alternative offer to our standard general contractor quote. And that was from a friend who is an electrician.
We pay 24k for 240 m² (2580 sq ft), including FaH.

What is FaH? Our total area including usable space is about 300 sqm (3,229 sq ft).
We are currently exploring all options to reduce costs in every trade since our shell construction costs exceed the planned budget by about 20% (simply no better alternative despite several tenders).

200 or 250 sqm (2,150 or 2,690 sq ft) doesn’t necessarily make a big difference for the electrical work. Usually, the rooms are just a bit larger, and there might be one or two extra rooms on top. Electrically, that hardly adds any extra effort. In my opinion, square meter values aren’t necessarily meaningful in this trade.

The price here is somewhat expensive but still acceptable. Are the spotlights including bulbs? Depending on what you chose, that could already be a few thousand dollars. Plus, the relatively costly installation of the ceiling boxes.

You could save money on the underground cable. It’s available at any hardware store or online. Just hand a 20mm (0.8 inch) cable to the electrician on-site, and you could save around €250, which you could put towards your vacation fund.

You could also save a bit on the USB outlets, though not much. I believe the standard ones from Gira cost about €10-15 each. You could install them yourself or just give them to the electrician on-site. Whether they install a regular outlet or one with USB makes no difference for them.

The same goes for the thermostats. I assume you already selected which ones you want? If so, check the prices yourself. Also, discuss the installation of these devices with the people on-site.
