Hello everyone,

I am currently finalizing the electrical plan and have discussed the installation with our electrician. The electrical work is scheduled to start on Monday, and I still have the opportunity to make a few minor changes.

We have planned to use wireless actuators from eltako FJ62NP-230V for the electric roller shutters. For some wall lights, we have also planned wireless actuators. Now I have the following questions:

1: If I install the wireless actuator behind a light switch inside the flush-mounted box, is it guaranteed that both control methods (manual switching and wireless switching) will work independently? Is it possible that manually switching off the light fixture could disable the wireless function because the circuit is interrupted? The electrician always referred to it as a "switch," but I keep reading about "pushbuttons" online.

Unfortunately, I expected more from the electrical installation, but the general contractor’s electrician looked puzzled when I mentioned that "everything should be wired star-shaped to the distribution board." Our additional cost estimate is also much higher than expected, so we will stick to conventional wiring, which I will then expand with decentralized switching actuators.

The fact that the electrician connects everything so that the actuator is completely de-energized together with the switch would make me consider ending the collaboration with him. For the Eltako flush-mounted lighting actuators, I usually assume a momentary switch, but others can also be controlled with regular switches, for example. The Eltako components are available either potential-free or with zero-cross switching. Which type exactly does he intend to install?

Yes, that would be amazing if that were the case...

Roller shutters:
ELTA wireless shutter actuator FJ62NP-230V
Lighting: ELTA wireless light actuator FL62-230V (although I have told him that I would like an offer for the FUD61NPN-230V, since I want to be able to dim the lamp and it might be LED).

Is it already necessary for you to use these actuators? Otherwise, you could have electrical junction boxes installed and handle the actuators yourself later. You can easily order all the actuators online, probably even cheaper. The important thing is that everything is properly prepared.

The actuators can certainly be configured with both types—switches and buttons. That’s probably a matter of personal preference.

These actuators were my idea, and I have to say that I would save about 20 EUR per actuator net (if I ordered them myself; but then without installation). However, I received an offer on Friday and he wants to start on Monday... The preliminary meeting was on Wednesday.

According to the electrician, deeper junction boxes will be installed anyway. What exact preparations would need to be made?

Deeper means 66mm (2.6 inches) instead of 46mm (1.8 inches). That is the minimum you need if you want to install wireless switches. However, if you install electronic boxes at essential connection points, it will be much easier later on. The additional cost for this is approximately 200–400€.

That really depends on what you want to have in the end. We can discuss this in a private message since it might get quite extensive here, I think.
