Hello,

We have planned to install shutters throughout our house, which are to be operated electrically.
We have now received a quote for the motors, which I find quite bold. The upgrade of each shutter with an E-Motor Siral EL4 50/8nm without power supply cable costs around €175. What do you think of these motors? I would like to control all the shutters together via a central control system. Is it advisable to use radio frequency (RF) control? Or would wired installation be more cost-effective? What additional costs should I expect for the connection and switches? How reliable are these Siral motors, and are they worth the price? The offer comes from the company that will also be installing the shutters... Shouldn’t I receive a credit since the belt winders are not needed? The manual shutters were already included in the contract and have been paid for...

It’s an upgrade, so a refund is not possible...

For a central control system, the motor itself does not matter – however, when building new, I would always install wiring.

It wasn’t really billed that way; rather, I received a quote for the motors. How much does a control unit typically cost? Then all the cables would have to be routed to the utility room, and there should also be a switch in each room, right? Is there a remote control for the control unit, or how does it work? Is the price of 175€ (about 190 USD) fair?

As I already mentioned, you most likely won’t receive any credit unless you completely give up on roller shutters...

A relay switch for up to 4 motors costs 25 euros... with this, you can control 1 to 4 roller shutters individually or in groups... your roller shutter installer can provide you with a proper quote since we don’t know how many you need... and they still have to be connected.

You can also link the whole system with timers or similar devices if you want... these, of course, cost extra...

Running all the cables in the utility room is definitely the most elegant solution... and prepares you for the future... but it does cost more accordingly...

175 doesn’t sound bad at all...

I did some research online about centralized control of roller shutters. High-quality Rademacher Rollotube radio motors cost around €150 (about $160), and with a Duofern handheld remote for €120 (about $130), I could control all the shutters centrally. With the Homepilot 2 for €290 (about $310), this and much more is even possible via smartphone or tablet.
Does anyone have experience with these products? Is there something similar from Siral?

As I mentioned before... I would only rely on wireless if no other option is possible...
