Hello everyone
I’m new here and have a question right away )
We bought a used house and will start renovating it in August. We are completely redoing one bathroom.
We want to install a corner shower (140 x 80cm (55 x 31.5 inches)) with a sliding door. We saw this type of shower enclosure with a sliding door at a home improvement store. There, it costs around 1400€ (with an extra shallow shower tray). I have now found a similar enclosure on eBay (from a retailer) for 450€.
What do you think, is it okay to buy it or is it junk?
Best regards

Of course, it’s difficult to judge from the outside! I would recommend consulting a professional beforehand to see if the integration is even possible. You don’t want to end up with it and nothing fits! Is the same model also available at the hardware store? Then you could ask all your questions there. We took the risky route ourselves and found furniture online. And by fitting, I mean truly fitting later on. Maybe you can also get some inspiration there!?
You can find some good deals on eBay. However, there are also many suspicious sellers offering branded products at very low prices, which turn out to be counterfeits. A price difference of 1000 € (about 1100 USD) is of course huge.
What you could do is check the seller’s reviews and the items they have sold. If it’s a dealer who sells these products frequently and the reviews seem genuine, you might consider taking the risk. In the worst case, you could lose around 500 € (about 550 USD). If the seller is not a dealer, they will likely try to refuse a return. (Dealers, however, must not do this—distance selling laws apply.)
After all, this involves water, and if you later have water damage due to a material defect, you will regret saving the 1000 € (about 1100 USD). But generally, there are also good, affordable parts available on eBay.

In the past, we have had various issues with shower enclosures regarding cleaning, durability, and cost.
For this size, however, a fixed glass panel would also be sufficient—more attractive, cheaper, and especially much easier to maintain. Cost including professional installation: 400 €.
Best regards,
Tomtom.
