Hello homeowners
I am curious to know if and what kind of security systems you use to protect your home against unwanted visitors. I am currently researching alarm systems and see there is a wide range from inexpensive to expensive. Above all, what components do your alarm systems include? Cameras, motion detectors, etc.
Since I work at night, I want my two ladies at home to be able to sleep safely, as we have a very open and visible property with only one neighbor.

First of all, I would like to mention something about deterrence.
I wanted to install a warning light on the house. Hello!
ABUS offers the original part as a dummy version – for 27 €.
Best regards,

Could you reduce the image size? My computer doesn’t have enough RAM and is struggling.
And regarding the topic: I might consider something with a panic function! For example, at the push of a button, full lighting inside and outside, alarm siren on, possibly closing the shutters/blinds, etc.

AND PUT THE TRIGGER IN THE CHILD’S ROOM 😀!
It doesn’t bother anyone anyway because of the secluded location. And closed shutters have an effect both ways :p.
If you want a panic option, then a panic room – although that’s not ideal in case of fire.
Best regards,
TomTom.

Regards,
TomTom.Have you watched too many Hollywood movies? How many typical homeowners actually have a panic room? It’s not just about having an extra “panic” room!
Not to mention the cost and additional space required.
I don’t think Karlsberg really wants a panic room, do they?
When do you close your shutters? I at least do it when it gets dark and before anyone is in the house!
Whether to trigger the shutters with a button like that has to be decided on-site and according to personal preference. I just mentioned it as a suggestion, since this is often integrated into alarm systems.
I know from my neighbors that they can turn on all the lights at the push of a button. I think some people feel safer if the inside is not dark and everything outside can be seen clearly. And if the siren goes off on top of that...
You could also integrate a GSM module that sends you a text message, for example (without immediately involving the police or emergency services).
You should get advice from an alarm system company or similar – they definitely have more expertise on this.

Best regards,
TomTom.That sounds promising. I don’t need a panic room since we’re neither stars nor wealthy or anything like that. We don’t have any stalkers either. I can’t have a watchtower or moat with drawbridge due to space limitations. However, I considered asking the US Air Force stationed in the neighboring town (Ramstein) if they could do some patrol flights in the evening :p
Just kidding aside. A dummy model sounds like a good option. The roller shutters go down when it gets dark. I plan to use motion detectors and lighting in the garden. This will only have a moderate deterrent effect because the property isn’t easily visible from outside. For everything else, I’ll rely on advice from a professional company.
