ᐅ WC window in guest bathroom next to the front door – is that now considered a no-go?

Hello everyone!

I’m writing this here because it’s somehow related to floor plans. A few months ago, a civil engineer I know said that all toilet windows next to entrance doors should be bricked up. Since then, I’ve been looking more closely at floor plans on this forum with that statement in mind.

A lot of people plan a toilet window next to the entrance door. Is this just the personal opinion of a perfectionist? What do you think?

By the way, the term "guest toilet" seems strange to me, since the family uses it daily and guests occasionally. I only learned this term here on the forum.

An affordable house has to prove itself. A proven house has to be affordable.
That’s just how it is. If you don’t want to waste any square meters, you end up with a design where the window is right next to the front door.
With our house, I tried to place the guest bathroom elsewhere, or at least move the window. Either the guest bathroom became a long, narrow space, too large, or the window would have ended up behind the shower.
Well, it doesn’t really matter. Our visitors don’t take turns grabbing the door handle. The mail carrier arrives at the same time; visitors usually come by appointment, so no one gets surprised while using the restroom. It’s like keeping things in perspective.

What exactly is supposed to be "bad" about it?

Is the ideal spot there. We have it the same way. The window isn’t even frosted glass. A little thrill on the toilet keeps visitors entertained.

Hmm, at my parents' house, the bathroom is a standard one with a window next to the door... I've never found that to be bothersome, neither from the inside nor from the outside.

@Nordlys Kitchen window facing the street or front door with a small ventilation sash. That’s how it should be; we have the same. I always wave to all the new construction visitors with the kitchen towel in a friendly way!
