ᐅ WC window in guest bathroom next to the front door – is that now considered a no-go?

Hello everyone!

I’m writing this here because it’s somehow related to floor plans. A few months ago, a civil engineer I know said that all toilet windows next to entrance doors should be bricked up. Since then, I’ve been looking more closely at floor plans on this forum with that statement in mind.

A lot of people plan a toilet window next to the entrance door. Is this just the personal opinion of a perfectionist? What do you think?

By the way, the term "guest toilet" seems strange to me, since the family uses it daily and guests occasionally. I only learned this term here on the forum.

In our case, neither the guest bathroom nor the kitchen faces the street, but rather my home office does.

And I’m quite glad about that. The washbasin for the kids is located in the garage, equipped with both cold and hot water so the kids can wash their hands there.

He said that noises and odors can be unpleasant for the residents, visitors, delivery personnel, or mail carriers right at the front door, which can cause awkward situations.

Let’s take the nonsense from Mr. Engineer (who, in a country of councilors, is basically a nobody) further: a guest toilet without a window, no fan because that makes noise too, so the gas now moves into the entrance area right after leaving the toilet and confronts the next guest entering. Apparently, something was accidentally bricked up in his head.

When I come in from changing tires or from the playground with two kids, having the sink right by the front door is perfectly placed.

From the perspective of an everyday entrance with a sink, that "gas window" only affects the entrance for bailiffs and mayors *LOL*

No, Mr. Engineer wants to design the guest toilet facing the terrace
Or opposite the kitchen... or accessible from the living room...

No, he doesn’t want any inside the house at all. Just like it used to be in the yard, it also fertilizes the potatoes directly if properly designed.

Well... quite a lot has come together.

I would definitely insist on having a small bathroom window next to the entrance, so that any stranger knows exactly this is my territory (territory marking), and my friends can forgive me for a loud fart every now and then.

We once had a house where the guest toilet was located directly in the kitchen, so that every loud fart spoiled the appetite of the guests.
