ᐅ Which internet solution do you recommend?

Hello!

Our construction started about 2.5 weeks ago, and we are currently planning the electrical system. We are wondering how to install internet in the house.

About the house:
The house is built using solid construction methods from Viebrockhaus. Radio waves barely pass through the ceiling between the ground floor (GF) and the upper floor (UF). On the UF, the interior walls are drywall with metal elements, which also blocks radio waves significantly.

For the ground floor:
We want to set up Wi-Fi with the router located in the utility room. This should provide coverage throughout the entire ground floor and help reduce electromagnetic pollution to some extent.

For the upper floor:
This question is more complex. We lean toward a LAN solution to minimize electromagnetic pollution.
Option 1: Run LAN cables through the empty conduits from the utility room to each room on the upper floor.
Option 2: Use powerline adapters (network over the electrical wiring).

-> We tend to choose the second option because there are more power outlets than LAN ports in each room. It is also somewhat cheaper, though the price difference is minor in a project of this scale.

What do you think? Will this solution work without problems, or are there limitations? Have you had any experience with this?

Thank you very much for your input.

I just wanted to point out that there are definitely people who want to set up an extensive home network but don’t know the difference between CAT 5, 6, and 7.

who would then have someone with professional knowledge plan and carry out the project

Hello,
my questions go in a very similar direction, so I’m just going to use this thread for them.
We are currently building a new house and are about to start the electrical installation. So far in the construction process, one thing I’ve learned is that you can’t really rely on the so-called specialists for competent advice.

I want to equip the new build with future-proof wiring, but I’m not a “nerd” or heavy streamer or anything like that. My current usage is limited to gaming on the PC, watching Netflix… so basically very standard use that doesn’t require anything special. But I want to get the house to a level where I hopefully don’t have to replace the cables for the next 15 years – who knows what kind of networking, devices, and video quality will come along in the future...
By the way, we don’t have a smart home system.

From what I’ve read so far, I would install Cat7 cables in empty conduits (ducts) to all sensible rooms. Although with RJ45 connectors (which ultimately limit the performance to about Cat6a), the capacity would still be more than sufficient, and you’d have planned ahead. The cables are of very high quality, and if the time comes, you can simply replace the connectors and at least have a more powerful cable inside the walls.
As of now, I would install double network outlets in the study, living room, master bedroom, and children’s rooms. I would probably skip the kitchen and bathroom.

What do you think, is this a reasonably sensible plan?
Or do you have other suggestions or opinions?

Best regards

That works for now. If you have a basement, you could also install something there for a potential server or similar. I might add an outlet in the kitchen later as well. I haven’t actually needed it yet, but it feels like it’s missing.

Maybe also install a double outlet for the internet access point, such as a DSL router or fiber modem, in the basement, attic, and utility room. This depends on your setup. You should also consider whether and where an additional Wi-Fi access point might be needed. A higher-mounted outlet, for example in the hallway, is often a good option.

and into the hallway for Wi-Fi, and into the basement/laundry room for possible photovoltaic systems, smart heating, smart washing machine, and into the kitchen for a smart kitchen, and onto the attic to supply television... Co-builders have 42. We have 19. Other co-builders 3. Others again 0... You are on the right track.
