Hello everyone,

we own a detached semi-detached house that was completed two years ago. The neighboring house is still for sale and has not been built yet.

I am wondering if the party wall is properly compacted/sealed... Can anyone provide some information on this? See photo...

Thank you in advance.

This is not about the color; in my opinion, it’s the plaster. And the plasterer messed it up. The roof moves and was firmly connected to the plaster. So, it had to crack somewhere. This is a defect, but nothing that can’t be fixed, and it certainly won’t cost thousands.

It’s not about advantages. It’s being treated as if it were something special or technically more complicated.

If you cannot attach a semi-detached house to an existing one, then you lack technical competence. Constantly claiming otherwise doesn’t change that.

Non-identical semi-detached houses and even varied terraced houses are quite common. Just walk through an old, established town instead of only new housing developments.

Nothing is more boring than a development where every house on the street looks exactly the same.

And I know many zoning plans where no specific regulations for terraced or semi-detached houses are made precisely because uniformity is to be avoided.

But it is possible to be technically competent enough to clearly understand the practical implications of fraternal twins.

I noticed there is a gap on the inside corner of this wall... As you can see in the photos, I can fully insert a 0.5 mm (0.02 inch) thick measuring tape into it... Is this normal? Shouldn't the corner be sealed?

Here is a clearer photo showing that the gap is open to the outside... You can also see on the exterior wall where the gap is... A disaster?
