Hello

we are currently building our new house.
We had the first appointment with the electrician, and for the smart home system, he recommended Free@home.

The electrician does not offer KNX.

What would you recommend? Should we go with Free@home or install a wireless smart home system ourselves later?

I was more referring to the functionality.

Is it possible to create better or more complex automation with free@home compared to a wireless smart home system?

Can free@home be used to implement effective automatic shading?

Have a look at Loxone; it allows you to program and implement almost anything according to your own preferences.

Loxone is not offered by the electrician; he only provides Free@Home.

How complex can automations with Free@Home get?

Would you recommend Free@Home, or is it better to choose a wireless smart home system, such as Matter, that can be retrofitted later?

Just a quick question. Is your electrician already installing the wired version of F@H?

Sure, the bus version from F@H

He is convinced by F@H because it can be built modularly
and later with F@H, you can retrofit everything else you need,
often even by yourself

That’s exactly the point: you can retrofit everything that F@H offers, but no more.

I can’t comment on wireless systems since I’ve never tried any.
But if your electrician is already installing bus wiring, they might as well install KNX sensors and actuators from the start – there’s no difference in the workmanship. Buy ETS Home and configure it yourself, and you gain maximum flexibility – plus the assurance that all parts of the house can communicate with each other (whether that works as easily with wireless, I don’t know).
As I said: read Heinle’s book; it gave me a good initial understanding.
