ᐅ Which material is suitable for the garden fence of the first house?

This year, we plan to build our house, and since patience is not really our strong suit (okay, which I think is understandable, because we are fulfilling our lifelong dream), we have already talked today about the garden fence and, of course, the gate as well.

The fence should primarily be an eye-catcher in front of the house and also durable and low-maintenance. We are not worried about the costs... What matters is that the quality and value for money are right.

We appreciate any tips!

That works. So in Lower Saxony (NDS) you do it the same way as here in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW): hedge on the property line for shared fencing. Otherwise, beside it.

...beside it then with the appropriate distance. Exactly!
I believe that in other federal states it is not handled significantly differently.

You’re forgetting that a hedge is not nearly as narrow as a fence. Therefore, the thickness needs to be considered, because the neighbor is not required to tolerate a hedge on their property.
Additionally, in the case of @daniels87, the hedge is planned to be taller than the allowed boundary height of 1.20m (4 feet), namely at least 1.80m (6 feet)... so please do not plant it directly on the property line -> this will cause issues with the neighbor.

We only want privacy screening facing the street for now, since our neighbors are already planting something for screening. So, as long as pedestrians are not bothered by it, I don’t think it will be an issue.

And here is an excerpt from our development plan (also Lower Saxony)

Sascha, that’s how it should be. You can probably get approval for gabions one meter (3 feet) high as well,

NRW also makes sense, as there is a fencing requirement here
There are such things! Although the requirement only applies upon request, https://recht.nrw.de/lmi/owa/br_text_anzeigen?v_id=5820021111170061258#det376159, still ... Interesting. Here, this requirement does not exist as long as there is no danger (dog, etc.).

I’m also curious… how does the installation process work? I mean, is it handled by them or do we need to take care of it ourselves?

You can choose. From what I know with Guardi, you can have the fence installed, but you don’t have to. It depends on how handy you are and how much time and willingness you have yourself.
There’s no such requirement here, as long as there’s no risk involved (dog, etc.).

There’s no such requirement here either, but my dog actually doesn’t get along well with the neighbors’ dogs, so having a fence just makes sense. It’s also more comfortable for us humans than having to keep the dog on a leash in our own garden during the summer.
