Hello everyone,
I’m currently thinking about options for privacy protection on our bathroom window.

Clear glass would be my preference because it suits the uniform façade design, but my partner finds curtains impractical in the bathroom. He leans towards frosted glass.

Now I’ve come across frosted window film, which can be applied afterward. The advantage is that I could install it only once I’m in the finished house and realize that privacy is really an issue. It could also be applied only to the lower part of the pane.

My concern is whether the film might eventually peel off due to moisture from steam (and I like long, hot showers...).

Has anyone had experience with this? Or are there completely different ideas for privacy solutions?

Thanks in advance!

We are also considering applying frosted window film – there are options without adhesive that use only static cling; try searching for Aingoo window film on Amazon.

It has been working for us for 1 year now in the upstairs bathroom! Cutting the edges was tricky. I used film from the home improvement store. Next time, I will remove the trim around the window and attach the film directly to the edge without cutting.

Basically, I would use clear glass! That way, all options remain open later on. If it is certain that the glass needs to be opaque (for example, a bathroom window directly facing a busy walkway), then frosted glass or satin glass, as well as “Mastercarre,” can be considered in addition to traditional privacy glass. Privacy glass tends to look a bit outdated.

Currently, we are still using roller shutters but plan to install a pleated blind soon. When we previously lived in a rental apartment, we also applied a film, which adhered firmly without any issues and might still be there.

We have had a frosted window film (from Hellweg) on the windows of our rental apartment for 1.5 years. So far, it has not started to peel or come off.

The professional films adhere very well; they do not peel off and are available in various designs. You can choose between privacy and light transmission.

You can also order them to exact measurements, so no cutting is necessary.
