ᐅ Which material is suitable for the garden fence of the first house?

This year, we plan to build our house, and since patience is not really our strong suit (okay, which I think is understandable, because we are fulfilling our lifelong dream), we have already talked today about the garden fence and, of course, the gate as well.
The fence should primarily be an eye-catcher in front of the house and also durable and low-maintenance. We are not worried about the costs... What matters is that the quality and value for money are right.
We appreciate any tips!

Try googling "Friesenwall." It might be something for you. We ordered something similar, but made from granite blocks and mortared together.

GoodCompany7 Mar 2017 14:20How many meters will you end up installing?^^ Not quite as many as we could! The next project is to build a base along the side where the aluminum fence will be installed. Once that is in place, a contact person from Guardi will come to take measurements for a quote. I expect it will be around 30m (100 feet), probably including a sliding gate.
There is already a chain-link fence on the side and at the back of the house, which will remain.
You can choose powder-coated aluminum, meaning any RAL color you want. Yes, I know that. If you prefer something really colorful... I once saw a picture of an aluminum gate painted in the colors of the rainbow. It wouldn't be my choice, but it is possible. As for durability, always check the manufacturer's warranty. I've read about powder-coating warranties of up to 15 years.[/Quote]

Thank you very much for your answers!
What I’m still curious about… how does the installation actually work? I mean, is that also handled by the company, or do we have to take care of it ourselves? For a fee, these companies will usually take care of everything—it’s their job and they’re happy to do it.
Alternatively, there are landscape contractors who specialize in creating and maintaining outdoor areas.
If you want something really durable for outdoors, go for V4A stainless steel. It’s seawater-resistant and can easily withstand the harshest salt storms by the sea. Regular stainless steel (V2A / 1.4301)—which is used, for example, for door handles—is not seawater-resistant and will develop surface rust. Even 30 km (about 19 miles) from the sea, our door handles showed significant surface rust after one year and would need to be refurbished.
Of course, V4A is not affordable in this form. To use it, you would need contacts with suppliers and produce the parts yourself from the raw material.

daniels879 Mar 2017 08:18I'll just jump in here since we're talking about fences.
Our development plan specifies a maximum fence height of 1.2 m (4 feet). “Living” fences, like hedges, are also allowed. Am I understanding this correctly: if I plant only a hedge, I have to keep it trimmed to 1.2 m (4 feet). But if I build a fence in front of it, the hedge can grow unrestricted?
We want privacy from the street, so we’d like the hedge to be about 1.8 m (6 feet) tall.
My plan: start with just the hedge, and if anyone complains, add a welded wire fence in front of it.
