This year, we plan to build our house, and since patience is not really our strong suit (okay, which I think is understandable, because we are fulfilling our lifelong dream), we have already talked today about the garden fence and, of course, the gate as well.
The fence should primarily be an eye-catcher in front of the house and also durable and low-maintenance. We are not worried about the costs... What matters is that the quality and value for money are right.
We appreciate any tips!

I find it awful that at least every other house has such fences... where you could really be individual, everything is uniform.Exactly my point.
But if you have a dog, a fence is necessary.
Not only to keep your own dog contained, but other dogs often wander in to visit the other pet.
Best regards in brief

Knallkörper13 Feb 2017 14:29Double wire mesh panels are more of a practical solution. I actually want to avoid the word "cheap," but it really fits when talking about double wire mesh panels. You can use them as construction fencing or if you have a really large property and maintain something like a small farm there. It really has nothing to do with "style" or "elegance."
I actually like these fences. Even better with privacy slats in between. The dark gray ones with lush green bushes in front look neat and tidy almost all the time. I’m not a fan of stone fences. They somehow seem a bit old-fashioned to me. Wooden fences look great only for the first few years; after that, they usually start to look shabby unless you invest a lot of time into maintenance.

Welded wire mesh panels are more of a "practical" solution. That’s suitable for the side or the back, but definitely not for the front facing the street.

meister keks14 Feb 2017 01:45We will use a simple chain-link fence in anthracite color with a nice evergreen hedge planted behind it.
I also like the look of a gray welded wire mesh fence, but...
For about 100 meters (330 feet) of fence at a height of 1.20 meters (4 feet):
Welded wire mesh fence: 3500 euros
Chain-link fence: 800 euros
Up to 1000 euros more for the hedge plants behind the chain-link fence.
My decision is made. Of course, there are many attractive fences, but the prices go up even higher with those.
