Hey everyone, I’ve been searching online for a good hedge trimmer, but to be honest, I’m not even sure what to look for when buying one. During my search, I found so many brands and models that I’m starting to lose track. Then I came across this forum and thought, who better to ask than people who actually own one? So, I’m hoping for your ideas and advice. Is there a particular brand or model you would especially recommend, and what are the key factors I should consider when purchasing? I’m looking forward to plenty of helpful answers. Thanks in advance.

Best regards, Häuslebauer7

It's hard to say without more information.

To put it bluntly: if your hedge is only 50cm (20 inches) high, a hedge trimmer with a 70cm (28 inches) blade length won’t be much fun to use—and vice versa. Or if the blade spacing is small but you have very thick branches.

I have a corded electric one from Bosch and am satisfied with it.

I bought a cordless hedge trimmer from Hitachi. Reason: I already have other cordless tools from Hitachi and therefore enough batteries to swap.

I have the Bosch green cordless hedge trimmer and am very satisfied. It cost 130 euros two years ago, including the battery and charger. You can work continuously for over an hour on a single battery charge. That is usually more than enough.

PS. I have the 18-volt version.

This year, I also bought the green Bosch 18V cordless hedge trimmer as part of a set with a cordless drill for 199 EUR (including 1 battery and charger). As far as I know, the offer at Hornbach is still available (2 Bosch cordless tools of your choice from the selection + charger + 1 battery with 2.5 Ah). Originally, I planned to get a 36V Metabo model, but since I only use the hedge trimmer about twice a year, the Bosch is more than enough and was attractively priced, especially since I was also looking for an 18V cordless drill. However, only one battery is included, which is shared between both tools, but that doesn’t bother me.
I use it to trim a thuja hedge and had no problems in spring, not even with the battery runtime. The autumn cut is coming up soon.
