ᐅ What are good plants for a narrow bed alongside a garage?

Hello everyone!
We have a 30cm (12 inch) narrow planting strip—yes, really that narrow—along the side of our neighbors’ garage (9m (30 ft) long). This strip exists because of an installed irrigation system.

We would like to plant it! Preferably with nice ground covers that remain narrow or with taller plants. However, these should only grow wider than about 0.3m (12 inches) after that point, so our robot mower can pass underneath without obstruction. It would also be great if they don’t grow very deep.

Do you have any specific suggestions for what we could plant there?

Those are already some great suggestions! Thank you all very much.

To be honest, we had also considered grapes. However, there isn’t much sunlight there. It’s so-so!

What do you mean by "so-so"? Giving a cardinal direction or information about the hours of sunlight would be helpful. Also, does the spot get wet when it rains, or is it sheltered from the wind and stays dry?

Red basically indicates the neighbor’s garage, and green marks the planting strip.

Grapevines need some kind of support or trellis, right? Unfortunately, I can’t attach one to the garage because it has external wall insulation (ETICS / EIFS). I want to avoid damaging that. How do grapevines generally behave in this regard?

The entire passage is 3 meters (10 feet) wide. Accordingly, there is wind in that area. I consider it somewhat sheltered from the wind, and from noon to 6 p.m. in summer, it should receive sunlight.

Here is the sun path for July 1st, 2020, with the buildings marked.

The garden bed is located next to the neighbor’s garage.

Do you want the garage to blend in relatively seamlessly, or is it just important to remove the strip?

I would say it’s too shady for grapevines.
You can also recess trellis panels into the ground without having to affect the external wall insulation (EWI).

I don’t need to remove the garage. That would just be a nice side effect in some parts. Otherwise, it would be enough for me to remove the strip.
