Hey,
the question is basically already in the title.
How much space would be optimal for this? Maybe some of you also have pictures to share?
Thanks

We also have electrical outlets installed in the window recesses, and I find them terrible... they can be handy for Christmas lights, but as soon as something is plugged in there, it’s almost impossible to open the windows.
If I add a remote control plug or a timer to the outlet, the windows won’t even tilt open properly anymore. My wife especially likes to fling the windows wide open, no matter how many times I’ve told her to be careful...
This is especially problematic in bathrooms, where the recess is tiled and an outlet is installed; the space can become very tight. In our guest bathroom, for example, the window can’t be opened a full 90 degrees because there isn’t enough clearance.

Well, if there’s Christmas lights there, you can’t open the windows anyway. It doesn’t matter if the socket is at the bottom, right, or left. Even with a battery-powered solution, the decoration would get in the way.

If I put a remote-controlled socket or timer on the plug, you can’t even open the window slightly anymore. My wife especially likes to fling the windows open, no matter how often I’ve told her to be careful... There are solutions for that as well. Just install an actuator behind the socket, so you can open everything easily without having a bulky plug sticking out.

Here is a picture of our shell construction.
On the left, there is a waterproofing layer, and on the right, the plaster profile. There was no more room for an electrical outlet there.
How it was resolved is also visible.

I find these narrow reveals ugly. Electrical outlets in the reveals are definitely recommended; in hindsight, we should have done this more often. We have an appointment with the electrician soon. Since we haven’t considered outlets in the window reveals so far, I’m just curious: what are they used for? Apart from Christmas decorations, I can’t really think of any other use.
