Hello everyone!
I have installed several edging strips using 20x10x8cm (8x4x3 inch) paving stones.

How would you fill the joints to prevent weeds from growing through them?

If the lawn area is properly planned and installed, you can easily manage without additional edging. We have a trimmed lawn edge, which allows for clean cutting right up to the border. Walls and similar structures can be more challenging, but a 12cm (5 inches) lawn edging is sufficient for those.

Depending on the robot, 12cm (5 inches) of wall or masonry is simply not enough.

In my opinion, you just manually trim the edges every 4 weeks. It’s really no trouble at all.

Maybe for a small plot of land. But if you are going automated anyway, it should be done in a way that it works from the start and doesn’t require rework.

I have 2 tons of granite cobblestones here, which I want to lay in two rows. I plan to fill the gaps simply with mortar, concrete, or pozzolan cement. Otherwise, the stones will rest on a concrete bed with a back support. I hope the edging won’t be too uneven for our robotic mower. A friend of mine has been doing it this way successfully for years.

It is not too choppy.
