Hello everyone,
I am currently facing the challenge of assembling several Ikea Pax wardrobes as quickly as possible. It’s not just about speed, but also about maintaining ergonomics and quality during the assembly. I’m especially interested in any tips and tricks you recommend to systematically optimize the building process.
Which tools do you consider essential? Do you use any aids to hold parts in place? How do you plan the assembly – broken down into individual steps, or rather modular, block by block?
It would also be helpful to know if you have experience with particular techniques for handling the sometimes quite large and heavy components, in order to save time without taking risks.
I look forward to your knowledgeable tips and practical advice, so I can carry out the project efficiently and with as little frustration as possible. Thanks in advance!

Hello maule,
For a quick assembly of Ikea PAX wardrobes, I recommend the following structured approach:
- Preparation: Sort all parts and screws by assembly stages to save searching time.
- Tools: A cordless drill with adjustable torque is essential, and a rubber mallet helps fit the connectors without damage.
- Assembly: Always build the main structure (frame/doors) first before installing internal elements like shelves or drawers.
- Two people: Work with at least two people to hold heavy parts and ensure stability during assembly.
Also, make sure to review the assembly instructions in the Ikea app beforehand. This saves stress and time since you already have the steps in mind.
Efficiency comes from good organization and a well-thought-out process, not just from rushing the assembly.

A cordless screwdriver with adjustable torque is essentialI would actually advise against that if you want to work quickly while still achieving a stable result. My recommendation is a good corded drill driver with adjustable speed. Why? The PAX modules require screws to be tightened precisely—not too deep to avoid damaging or loosening the wooden panels. Battery-powered tools tend to lose momentum and may lose power.

Always assemble the base structure firstExactly – but with this addition: build the frame lying down first, as this ensures a more stable assembly before standing the cabinet upright. This way, you avoid wobbling and can work more accurately.
Also important:
- Avoid overtightening or loosening the screws too much—use a torque wrench if available.
- Use tape on screw heads if needed to prevent the bit from slipping out.
- For the sliding doors, it’s worth doing a dry fit before installation to adjust the tracks optimally.
Tell us how much experience you have and whether you’re working alone or with help. That would help give you more targeted advice.

Assemble the frame while it’s lying flat, as this ensures a more stable installationThis is priceless!
The first time I tried assembling it upright, and bam, the parts slipped out of my hands twice. Since then, I always lay the frames on the ground and take my time putting everything together.
Also, a simple tip from me: Prepare all screws and anchors in small bowls – it really makes finding them much more relaxed. 😊
And if you get frustrated during assembly, remember: every anchor you set is a small victory! 😎
Oh, and it’s best to have a second person help with the bench or other heavy parts; otherwise, it gets tiring quickly!
