Hello everyone,
I am currently focusing on optimizing my PAX wardrobe system and facing the challenge of combining maximum storage capacity with easy organization. The standard shelving options and hanging rods are no longer enough for me, especially because I want to store both clothes and various accessories and smaller items. Therefore, I am very interested in any clever hacks or storage solutions you know and use in practice to fully utilize the potential of PAX wardrobes. I find ideas particularly interesting that involve DIY elements or, for example, organizers that don’t require a separate purchase but can be easily integrated.
Are there any specific system extensions, space-saving tricks, or organization methods that have proven especially effective? I look forward to concrete tips or recommendations based on real-life experience regarding what really works day-to-day.
Thanks in advance!

Are there any special system extensions, space-saving tricks, or organization methods that have proven particularly effective? An efficient way to optimize PAX wardrobes is by combining different shelves with removable boxes and adjustable clothes rails. Custom-made shelves tailored to your individual needs are especially recommended.
- Use narrow baskets or boxes for smaller accessories; these can be placed on the shelves and pulled out when needed.
- Hook rails on the inside of the doors provide extra space for belts, necklaces, or small handbags.
- For shoes, flat boxes that slide under the clothes rail are useful, making use of often-unused floor space.
Further improvements can be achieved with adjustable, pull-out clothes rails that can be extended as needed using a spring or simple mechanism. Adding LED strip lighting inside the wardrobe also helps with quick orientation and better use of the available space.
All of these solutions can be implemented without major renovations or expensive new investments and noticeably increase functionality.

I mainly use transparent boxes in my PAX wardrobes because they are easy to stack. I find that the often praised transparency is not always an advantage. Sometimes it creates visual clutter, especially when the boxes are full or messy. That’s why I prefer fabric boxes or baskets that can be labeled on the outside. Moreover, I would argue that many of the so-called “clever hacks” are often a waste of time because, in the end, people tend to hoard too much stuff. A good storage tip for PAX would be to really declutter first and only store what is used regularly – only then can order be maintained.
Another thought that might be controversial: in my experience, it’s worth not relying solely on IKEA modules for systems like PAX, but experimenting with custom shelving or DIY solutions. This often results in more personalized and space-saving options than the rigid built-in system allows.
