Hello everyone, I am considering buying IKEA Platsa furniture for my new home office because I find the flexibility very appealing. However, I am specifically interested in which add-ons and accessories make the Platsa system particularly functional. What additional modules or elements are available that optimize storage space and significantly improve everyday usability? What experiences do you have with extensions like drawer inserts, lighting elements, or special door mechanisms? It would be great if you could also provide insights into how these additions perform in daily use.
I can at least partially address the concerns regarding the integrated lighting. The lighting elements from Platsa are typically LED-based and provide sufficient illumination for the interior space when positioned correctly. It is important to choose the appropriate module, as some are designed only for ambient lighting, while others can be mounted directly inside the cabinet. At the same time, the modular drawer inserts, as already mentioned, make organizing small items easier. For cable management, using flat-profile extension cords helps to make the best use of the space under the shelf.
I would like to add from my experience that, besides the technical components, the combination of different Platsa modules is also important. For example, I have combined open compartments with doors to allow quick access on one hand and to hide untidy areas on the other. Additionally, I use the extra drawer inserts, which function as small extra boxes – ideal for documents and frequently used accessories. If you plan the space carefully, the system can be adapted for many purposes. A tip: be sure to measure the dimensions precisely beforehand and consider the intended future use.

How well do these additions actually work? That’s an important question. Personally, I have never felt that the included lighting was too weak in everyday use, but I mainly use the cabinets as extra storage rather than as a work surface. So it really depends on the individual setup. In general, I think the flexibility of Platsa through the accessories is a major strength, even though not every accessory fits everyone equally well.Similar topics
