ᐅ Walk-in shower: What is the recommended width for the entrance?

Hello forum,

once again, we need your collective expertise. Our shower measures 1.40 x 1 meter (4 ft 7 in x 3 ft 3 in). The entrance is planned on the 1.40 meter (4 ft 7 in) long side. Since the quote from our plumber for a glass panel/door seems too expensive, we are wondering if a walk-in shower would be enough?

We understand that some splashing may occur. However, we have sufficient slope for drainage, and a small towel in front should be enough.

How wide should the shower entrance be? 70 cm (28 in) ↔ 70 cm (28 in), or would 80 cm (31 in) – 60 cm (24 in) be better? Currently, we have an old corner shower with a 40 cm (16 in) wide entrance.

Good luck

only the issue with the vapor barrier is a major drawback.
There is no regulation requiring the shower enclosure to extend to the ceiling. A height of 2.2m (7 ft 3 in) is sufficient for average-height people.

60cm (24 inches) is enough. Almost everyone can pass through comfortably. But even then, the partition is only 80cm (31 inches), which seems rather too narrow to me.

The shower access is about 110cm (43 inches) high, in case someone ever needs care assistance. Instead of a glass partition, there is a rod with a new 7.50m (24.6 feet) shower curtain from Daen. Bettenlager every three months. Currently, it is white with gray stars. It has also had jungle grass patterns, waves, or dots.

There are washable shower partitions. :p

How washable? Washable curtains? Not worth it for $7.50.

My wife would never accept a shower curtain. Neither washable nor Danish style.
