Hello!

We are currently building our single-family house and want to equip it with surveillance cameras.

I have already found a set online (4x LAN cameras).

In addition, we want to install an intercom system with a camera. I have already selected a system (camera and doorbell) that connects to the router via a LAN cable. When someone rings the doorbell, the image is transmitted to the cordless phone, and you can unlock the door from the phone.

My question:

Is there a system that, when someone rings at the gate, shows me a live image from a surveillance camera pointed at the gate and allows me to open the gate via the phone?

I hope I have explained myself clearly.

Thank you very much

By the way, it is legally regulated that ringing your doorbell is a sufficient reason to record and store an image of someone. There is a limitation regarding storage, but I don’t remember it exactly right now (I think it is about 4 images per person or something like that).

Someone rings the bell → recording starts? And only then? Okay

Best regards, Yvonne

Exactly like that.
Especially important for multi-family houses, since the entrance is usually located on public property.

There are these systems available as a set, including a TFT screen that you can hang in the hallway along with a door opener.

However, I don’t need a screen in the hallway—if I’m already in the hallway, I can just look out the door.

Every modern and reasonably good surveillance camera nowadays has a privacy feature... and with that, all discussions about what can or cannot be seen in the footage become irrelevant...

What exactly is this privacy feature? And why does that make those discussions irrelevant?

Even if you end up recording your neighbors?

Basically, yes, but you are only allowed to start recording when the doorbell rings.
However, there are definitely regulations regarding what exactly you are allowed to record (for example, a small camera at the doorbell itself versus a camera from the house capturing the entire neighborhood), and I’m not sure about the specific rules here.
I looked into this topic more thoroughly some time ago, but that was several months back, and I don’t remember all the details anymore.
