Hello,
after the tiling work was completed, we walked through the house and were a bit surprised by some issues.
Now we are not sure if we are just being picky or if the work was really done carelessly. Are these defects fixable and should they be raised with the tiler?
These corner cubes are mostly installed at an angle.
One rail in the photos is also slightly twisted. The grout joints are not parallel in a few places.
And in the last photo, isn’t an internal corner supposed to be mitered?

What are the typical tolerances for an uneven wall? Based on these pictures, is this already "too uneven" or still acceptable?LarsRud schrieb:
If the work was top quality, the second tiler wouldn’t have anything to complain about. It’s really that simple!
No errors mean no complaints Disparaging someone else’s work is a common practice in this industry. You can hardly put any trust in that.

What do you think about the situation if the base structure was already not level? Presumably, no one pointed out when hiring that the tiler should compensate for that...? My personal expectation is different! Basically, it’s quite simple: I always told the relevant trades (everything that should look good visually) before and during the work to do it as they would for themselves. If extra work arises that is not included in the contract, it will be settled with the invoice!
If you get someone who just follows instructions without taking initiative, you have to be at the construction site every day. It’s that simple! If you don’t like the result, tear it out and have it done again!
Now that everything is finished, asking in the forum whether the work carried out is correct is more than ridiculous. Tiling doesn’t happen in one day. Our tilers were at the house for about 4-5 weeks. That means there is more than enough time for the client to intervene early. Above all, tiling is a matter of appearance, so no special expertise is required. The argument “I’m not an expert” doesn’t apply here.
I still remember when my parents’ semi-detached house was tiled in the early 2000s (developer project), the tiler had to redo it three times because my parents didn’t like the work done.
