Help, we recently painted our living room and after 6 weeks it still smells strongly.
The odor is hard to describe; it does not smell musty or like rotten eggs.

The following materials were used:
Primer for plaster from Sto Silicate
Silicate plaster primer: StoPrep Sil
Silicate topcoat plaster: StoDecosit K
Paint: Stocolor Sil Comfort
The room is completely empty → another source of the odor can be ruled out

Ventilating does not remove the smell. My building biologist is at a loss, and a contaminant analysis covering 300 substances also did not show anything. Does anyone have any ideas?

Greetings!
It was similar for us in 2020. I ventilated a lot and then placed an electric diffuser in the room with the windows closed. Only a drop of real natural rose oil was added to the water. It improved enough that someone could sleep in the room again, but the odor truly disappeared only in spring when the windows could be left open for cross-ventilation for several weeks. Tilting the windows was not enough.
