ᐅ Bathroom spotlights – 12 volts with a transformer or 230 volts without a transformer?

Hello everyone,

In our bathroom of about 11sqm (120 sq ft), we would like to install 3 recessed lights. One in the shower area, one above the bathtub, and one above the washbasin.

Can you recommend which ones to use?
12 V with transformer or 230 V without transformer?
IP44 or IP65?

I would go for 12V. There are special spotlights designed for this that have a rubber ring or similar seal to prevent splashing water or steam from getting behind the fixture.

Note: There are regulations for areas above showers and other wet zones. I believe 230V would generally not be allowed directly above the shower enclosure. Although I’m not entirely sure about that.
