Hello everyone,

In our new build, we will have a wall closet/storage room on the upper floor. The dimensions are 1.26 m (4 ft 2 in) wide and 1.01 m (3 ft 4 in) deep.

Since this floor has three bedrooms and one bathroom accessed from the hallway, we don’t want to install a standard door but a louvered door (closet door). The door measures 60 x 201 cm (24 x 79 in). I assume the door will be attached only with hinges. There is no frame included.

Would you screw the hinges directly into the wall, or would you build a wooden frame yourself?
We need to decide now as we require the rough opening dimensions for the construction planning.

Thanks in advance.

I am currently building a built-in closet for the wardrobe as well.

A small tip: If you don't specifically need louvered doors for ventilation, you can buy individual doors at the “Swedish store.” They come with pre-drilled holes for hinge mounting. We also purchased the shelves, pull-out drawers, and so on from various product lines at the Swedish store. The side panels for the closet, to which I want to attach the doors, come from the hardware store.
