Hello, we want to operate a water pump together with our neighbors (using a shared well) and are considering how to separate the electricity costs. Are there electricity meters with a "switching" function? In other words, if the neighbor uses the pump, it switches to their meter; if we use the pump, it switches to our meter. Thanks for any tips. (It doesn't have to be a certified meter—just for internal use.)

Basically the same principle. A small distribution box for the pump, your supply line connected to a contactor, followed by two sub-meters (not calibrated or anything official), and then the pump. Any electrician can install this for you, but it will cost three digits. Whether it’s worth it is another question.

Any expenses (clock, meter, switching, etc.) are not cost-effective compared to the consumption. Simply halve the consumption, and that's it.

Having 2 meters is more ambitious 😎
... and the beer tastes better when settling the bill.
However, the 2 sub-meters may ONLY be connected to ONE household.
A switch installed by the electrician will do the job.

I think the idea is quite good. That way, we only have one electricity meter at the pump. Since there will be two valves for water extraction anyway, each one gets a water meter, and the division of electricity costs can be determined easily.
