Hello, we want to operate a water pump together with our neighbors (using a shared well) and are considering how to separate the electricity costs. Are there electricity meters with a "switching" function? In other words, if the neighbor uses the pump, it switches to their meter; if we use the pump, it switches to our meter. Thanks for any tips. (It doesn't have to be a certified meter—just for internal use.)

If yes, just have a contactor installed in the supply line for switching, so it runs on the respective meter in each household.
How long is the pump supposed to operate per year? If one gives the other a case of beer per year, the costs are settled...

For your information: The old, deep well (filter) is located just behind our two properties and dates back to former East Germany times when it was used for drinking water supply.
We can’t yet fully predict how it will be used or what costs might arise. We actually have our own well, which has provided enough water so far. The neighbor’s situation isn’t quite as good—he will probably use the pump more often. He has a large lawn and wants to water it during dry periods. There will only be one electrical connection running across our property.
I’m imagining two meters somehow. A switch would allow switching between the respective meter. How the billing will be done later remains to be seen—it could even be a case of beer ;-)
