Hello everyone,

we are currently remodeling a bathroom and definitely want a seamless finish. I have already spoken with a master plasterer. He provided a quote stating that he plans to use a lime plaster and seal it with a transparent 2-component polyurethane (2K PU) coating (shower walls, bathtub area, etc.).

Is that sufficient?

When I search online for seamless bathrooms, I find many solutions, but this one is nowhere to be found.

Does anyone have experience with the method mentioned above?

I have attached the quote for reference. It includes other items as well.

Hello,

unfortunately, I cannot tell you whether this will work in actual use in a bathroom as described in the offer.

Personally, I cannot imagine that this is suitable for permanent use in wet areas.
If this paint is the Aqua 2k PU coating, in my opinion, nothing in the product data sheet (according to the PDF online) indicates that it is suitable for use in a seamless bathroom.

We also work with seamless bathrooms, and especially in the shower area, a great deal of effort is required to ensure it is truly waterproof.
You could compare this paint with our products for seamless bathrooms:

- MSM Crearev (walls and floors)

- Puramente by Frescolori for the shower floor

Both products were developed specifically for seamless bathrooms and are marketed accordingly.

I see nothing like this in your offer.
Therefore, I would be skeptical, as this can create significant problems.

Hello

That sounds adventurous to me. Have you already seen any of his work or references that indicate the durability? I’ve come across similar experiments a few times where something with the sealing didn’t work.

Hi,
I’m considering using this surface potentially as a kitchen backsplash (if it’s suitable for placement behind a gas stove - 🙂 ). Online prices for wall surfaces are listed at around 200€ per square meter (about $200 per square meter). Is that approximately the price range one should expect or that you have paid?

Hi,

we pay 120 net per square meter (m²) for the standard walls (2 layers including sealing) and 180 net per square meter (m²) in the shower area because a third layer including sealing is required there.

In the kitchen area, latex paint is sufficient as a backsplash.
