Hello

we want to insulate our roof ourselves. We have a few questions.

1. What materials are needed, and what is the typical roof construction (from outside to inside)?

2. Which type of insulation wool should be used if we plan to convert the attic into a room later? There are different thicknesses and some have aluminum foil on the back, while others do not.

3. How much did it roughly cost you? We need to insulate about 223m² (roof area to be insulated).

Best regards

Hello, is everything okay like this?

Just make sure to seal everything airtight around the windows, gable, eaves, and so on. Otherwise, even the best insulation won’t help if it gets air behind it. The foil facing on the insulation board also acts as the vapor barrier.

That’s it then.

Hello, everything is fine as it is.

Just make sure to seal everything airtight around the windows, gable, eaves, etc. Otherwise, even the best insulation is useless if it is bypassed by air. The aluminum foil laminated on the insulation board also serves as the vapor barrier.
That’s all.

Hello Dachspezi,
thank you for your information.

Which membrane is best to use as a vapor barrier? Are there differences in thickness and construction? Which manufacturer or type would you recommend?

Hello,

You do not need a separate vapor barrier membrane because the aluminum foil laminated on both sides of the insulation board is recognized and approved as a vapor barrier by Linzmeier. You only need a membrane for windproofing, and I would recommend using the one from Linzmeier’s accessory range. Make sure to seal this membrane thoroughly everywhere. It is best to use products from Siga for this, such as Primur in rolls, corner sealing tapes, etc. At the beginning, it is advisable to have an external Siga representative visit the construction site.

Hello Dachspezi,

Great, that definitely helped me. My first conversation with a roofer confirmed this as well. He recommended products from Bauder, but I think there won’t be much difference compared to Linzmeier.
Thank you very much again!
