ᐅ Drywall Installation and Vapor Barrier – A Different Approach

Hello, I would like to hear your opinion on this method of vapor barrier installation and sealing, or rather the lack of sealing.

Unfortunately, we had no influence over that. We only realized that these plans didn't exist when issues arose. At that time, we still trusted the general contractor.

One could generously interpret this unconventional penetration as a gentle reminder from the contractor to take a closer look at the other component connections of the vapor retarder/vapor barrier. A faulty pipe penetration is still relatively easy to fix, but how and why does the foil connection end on the wooden floor?

That concerns me much more when looking at the photo. To properly assess the structure, more information about the construction of the ceiling, walls, and so on would be needed. What is located beneath the wooden floor?

When building with a general contractor (GC), there is no entitlement to execution planning, let alone for free.

It is completely fine and normal for the barrier to end on the wooden floor and be glued there with an adhesive seam.

We have now come to the same conclusion, resulting in the entire drywall being dismantled and mostly disposed of, since only very little remains intact, and the vapor barrier will then be renewed. What is currently there is absolutely botched.

In my opinion, this is not correct, as the vapor barrier should have been extended into the floor below. The wrong tape was used, and the vapor barrier was not attached to the masonry ........... The function it is supposed to have is absolutely not fulfilled here.
