Hello everyone,

I am planning to partially cover my brick facade with wood in the near future and want to use rhombus battens for this.

I have two quotes for the installation and am wondering which option would be the “better” one:

Option 1 is a classic facade made of Siberian larch with a cladding/underlay membrane and black-coated counter battens.

Option 2 is also a larch rhombus batten but with tongue and groove from LANERO/WOODTEX. With this, I could save on the underlay membrane and the additional cost for hidden fastening with facade clips (a total of about 5,200 euros), since the installation with screws is also hidden.

Question: Has anyone had experience with the tongue and groove system? At first glance, it looks neat to me but there might be disadvantages that I, as a layperson, cannot recognize. Off the top of my head, one possibility is a different appearance, since the black-painted groove is not positioned as far back as the black cladding membrane (depth effect?), and it might also not be painted as cleanly black or be as strongly grained, so that it doesn't create such a nice shadow gap.

Option 3 would be a WPC alternative, for example planeo Fassado, to avoid issues with greying. However, I don’t really want plastic on the facade and think the look would be too artificial...

I look forward to any enlightening answers.

Best regards,
Olli
